I paid about $30.00, watched it in the comfort of my own home at my convenience, and learned a great deal. I am due in 10 days so I hope I will still feel the same afterward, but I think I will. Highly recommended especially for first time moms or for parents who have had a lot of time between the last baby and this one."

"At first thought, a childbirthclass DVD might seem like another unnecessary prenatal purchase. If you're signing up to take a course, why would you need a recording? But think about having the freedom to watch at your own pace rather than schedule your life around the sessions. And the chance to watch key parts over and over.
If this is starting to sound good, consider the recently revamped 'Laugh and Learn About Childbirth'. The focus is on natural childbirth, but even if you're pro-epidural, you'll learn key information. Besides the basics like mom's anatomy and labor signs, instructor Sheri Bayles, B.S.N., R.N., teaches you about body changes that are sure labor tip-offs and decodes doctor speak so you'll feel comfortable in the hospital. The tone is lighthearted, but it's backed by experience: Bayles has been a labor and delivery nurse and is a certified lactation consultant as well as a Lamaze instructor.
Her jokes are actually funny, and the information is priceless. Our pick for playing again and again: the section on labor comforts, which shows pillow-supported positions and how your partner can massage you. "

Better Than "Bringing Baby Home"
"Expecting our first, my wife and I have bought several DVDs related to childbirth, etc. We first chose to purchase "Bringing Baby Home" rather than "Laugh & Learn" because the reviews and descriptions made it seem much better. But we found "Bringing Baby Home" somewhat disappointing. We really liked the other DVDs in the "Laugh & Learn" series, so we came back and bought this one. "Laugh & Learn About Newborn Care" is much better than "Bringing Baby Home". More comprehensive and better presentation. Very well done like all the "Laugh & Learn" series."

Awesome for squeamish Fathers-to-Be
"I negotiated that my husband would be in the delivery room as long as he didn't have to attend childbirth classes with gory videos. (And honestly, the idea of squatting on pillows and panting with a bunch of other preggies did not appeal to me either!) But when the time came closer we realized that we needed more info than the books could give.
My husband purchased this and we both loved it. Lots of good info, and even the graphic stuff wasn't bothersome. We enjoyed Sheri's sense of humor and laughed a lot. Cost a fraction of what the hospital childbirth classes were running - plus, we plan to review it again in a month right before I'm due - you can't do that with regular childbirth classes."
